Please read all of the following important information regarding the Spring 2012 Engineering Employment EXPO at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It is each company’s responsibility to follow the guidelines as stated below. It is recommended that you print these guidelines as a quick reference.

All questions concerning the Engineering Employment EXPO should be directed to Ana Lucuta and Henry Wolf (contact information listed below). The Spring and Fall Engineering Employment EXPO are both student-run events; therefore the EXPO Co-Directors will not be available at all hours of the work day (due to classes). Please excuse this inconvenience but understand that your questions and concerns will be answered promptly. (Note: E-mail is the most reliable contact method and will result in the quickest response)

Engineering Employment EXPO - Spring 2012

*A $100 per table and $50 per rep late registration fee will be applied to all registrations received after 5pm CDT January 6th.

The cost of attending the fair is $600 per table per day. Companies may purchase up to two tables per day. Two representative may attend the fair for each table purchased. Additional representatives may attend for a cost of $50 per representative.  

After completing registration, a confirmation email will be sent highlighting your company's registration details. You will be able to log in to your newly created account and edit information at your convenience.

III. Equipment Provided

Each company receives the following:

6'x3' table(s) and 2 chairs per table as well as an electrical outlet at each table. Wireless Internet at the job fair is provided if requested during the registration process.
NOTE: No computing equipment will be provided by the EXPO Committee

**Company representatives are asked to arrive at least one hour prior to the event on the day of the fair for registration and set up. Registration will be held at the entrance of the Illini Union Rooms A, B, and C in the Illini Union. The Illini Union is centrally located on Green St. Please refer to the Transportation Information section for more explicit details.

V. Luncheon

Lunch will be provided for all company representatives between 11:30 A.M. and 1:00 P.M.  It will be served in the Colonial Room of the Illini Union, located adjacent to the career fair.  Any committee members and volunteers can answer questions pertaining to lunch during the fair.

Note: The fair will remain open to students throughout the lunch period.

VI. Interview Rooms

Interview rooms are provided for companies to interview prospective students on campus during the week of EXPO.  Interview rooms may be requested during online registration.
  • Morning rooms are from 8:30 am - 12 pm
  • Afternoon rooms are form 1 pm - 4:30 pm
  • Companies are allowed a maximum of 4 interview rooms per time-slot
  • Interview rooms are given out based on space availability
  • Interview room assignments will be announced two weeks prior to the EXPO by e-mail

VII. Student Booklet Advertisements

Each year the EXPO committee publishes a booklet prior to the event to inform students of the opportunities that will be available to them at EXPO. A description of each company will be included in the student booklet. These descriptions were filled out at the time of registration and will not be edited by the EXPO Committee. You may edit your Company Description in your profile. Half-page and full-page ads can be purchased at an additional cost. See table below for pricing information. Ads are due by January 27th, 2012.

IMPORTANT - These steps must be taken:

  • Ad submissions should be e-mailed to the Publications Coordinator, Ron Meyer (meyer44@illinois.edu).  Any questions or concerns should also be directed towards Ron.
  • Ad submission e-mails must clearly specify "UIUC Engineering EXPO Spring 2012", and include company name and size of ad desired.
Advertisements can be accepted as follows:
  • Digital files should be submitted for all ads. Files can be formatted as PDF (preferred), GIF, JPEG, or TIFF.
  • Digital files should be high-resolution (at least 300 dpi).
  • Ad dimensions are given as width by height. For example, a half page ad is 8" wide and 5" high.
  • Advertisement submissions must clearly include company name and size of ad desired.

The dimensions above are given in horizontal length versus vertical length.
Ads will not be accepted if:
  • They do not conform to the specified dimensions and specified types.
  • They are not received by the specified deadline.

VIII. Company Information Sessions

Information sessions give your company an opportunity to present general information about your company and current opportunities to Illinois Engineering Students.  The EXPO Committee has space reserved for information sessions each evening after the career fair in one hour time slots.  Rosati's Pizza and soft drinks are provided at each session at no additional cost.  If your company would like to hold an information session any evening of EXPO, please contact engr-expo@illinois.edu. Info sessions will be limited to the first companies that sign up.

IX. Shipping Information

To make the handling of company packages and displays most convenient for the company representatives, the Expo committee has arranged to allow for independent shipping of packages.  The following directions on how to ship your packages will aid our shipping/receiving center in handling packages.


Please ship your packages so that they arrive within our shipping window of January 30th through February 7th. The EXPO committee cannot guarantee the timely arrival of your packages if they are not received during this window and is not responsible for packages that are lost or stolen. In shipping packages, please affix the following label to your package.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU USE THE LABELS WE PROVIDED AS PART OF REGISTRATION FOR YOUR PACKAGES.  It is important that you print out and attach a label to each package you are shipping.  This will insure that all of your packages make it to your table in a timely manner.

Federal Express will be picking up packages directly from the Illini Union upon the conclusion of the fair. Bring your packaged items to be shipped to the registration desk at the end of the day. Each individual company is responsible for labeling their own packages. Labels will be provided. If you intend to use a carrier other than FedEx, your representatives are responsible for arranging for the pickup as well as taking care of any other details.

X. Parking Information

EXPO parking will be on Mathews Street which is directly East of the Union. Please pull up to the Illini Union circle drive to obtain a parking pass. Cars without passes may be towed.

Once you obtain a pass, parking is available at parking spots that are bagged with "EXPO" logo inserts.  Cars parked at spots marked “No Parking” or reserved for other events or companies will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Note that there will be no permanent parking available at the Illini Union.

XI. Transportation Information

By Car:
  • From the North/South: Take I-57 to I-74 East and exit Lincoln Avenue south
  • From the East/West: Take I-74 and exit Lincoln Avenue south

To Illini Union:

  • Take Lincoln Avenue to Green Street and take a right.
  • The Union is located on the left-hand side with a circle drive. Please pull up and look for Expo signs/representatives for parking directions.

XII. Lodging Information

The I Hotel is the official hotel of the Engineering Employment EXPO.  Located just south of Assembly Hall, the I Hotel and Conference Center is Champaign-Urbana’s only facility constructed to Four Diamond standards. Among RUSK products, 32” LCD TV’s, and iHome iPod docking stations, complimentary shuttling is available to/from any campus building, Willard Airport (CMI), and Illini Terminal for Greyhound and Amtrak transportation. The I Hotel is also home to one Zip Car, a fast and easy way to get to the Expo. All guests receive a choice of complimentary breakfast at our iCafé (Starbucks coffee/tea/soda and pastry) OR 50% off any breakfast entrée at Houlihan’s Restaurant. Houlihan’s is also open for lunch, dinner, and drinks.

Other hotels in the Champaign-Urbana area are available as well.  Please make hotel reservations once registration is complete to insure rooms for your company.

XIII. Corporate Social

After a long day at the career fair, the Engineering Employment EXPO Committee would like to invite you to come unwind with University of Illinois students and fellow recruiters. The EXPO committee is currently planning a Corporate Social Event, and so be sure to check this Information Packet for details.  An invitation email will also be sent out closer to EXPO.

XIV. Cancellations

Please be aware that the latest possible date to cancel registration with a full refund is 5pm CDT January 20th. Cancellation requests received between January 20th and 27th will be refunded 50% of registration costs. If we are notified after 5pm CDT January 27th, payment will not be refunded.

XV. Billing Information

A check written to the 'Engineering Employment EXPO' is the only accepted method of payment. We cannot accept credit cards or electronic fund transfers at this time. EXPO's Tax ID # or W-9 will be furnished upon request to registered companies only. All checks should be sent to the following address:

XVI. Alumni Reception

University of Illinois Engineering Alumni who return to campus as recruiters for their employers are invited to a casual reception hosted by Engineering Student Alumni Ambassadors and the College of Engineering. The reception will provide light refreshments and appetizers following the Expo. Attendees will be able to interact with students and administrators on a more informal basis and relax after a long day. The ESAA EXPO Reception offers alums a great opportunity to network with students and discover new ways their company can become involved on campus.
